To make them, you only need a baked cake in your favorite flavor, frosting, white candy melts, and a little black melted candy for decorating.

We used a box of red velvet cake mix, but you can choose any flavor you like. To save time, you can also use a prepared cake from the store or bake your favorite cake recipe from scratch.

The most important thing is to have fun and enjoy creating your designs.

Get ready to surprise everyone with these monstrously delicious treats!

Ingredients

  • 1 box red velvet cake mix, or your preferred flavor
  • Ingredients required to prepare the cake mix
  • Up to 1½ cups frosting, approximately
  • White candy melts or white melting chocolate
  • Black candy melts or dark melting chocolate
  • Cake pop sticks
  • Candy eyes, optional
  • Vegetable oil, optional, for thinning the melted coating

Instructions

  1. Prepare and bake the cake according to the package instructions.
  2. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  3. Crumble the cooled cake into a large bowl until it resembles fine crumbs.
  4. Gradually add the frosting, mixing after each addition, until the crumbs form a soft and moldable dough.
  5. Add only as much frosting as necessary. The mixture should hold its shape without becoming overly soft or sticky.
  6. Scoop out small portions of the mixture and roll them into evenly sized balls.
  7. Avoid making the balls too large, as heavier cake pops may slide off their sticks.
  8. Arrange the cake balls on a tray lined with wax or parchment paper.
  9. Refrigerate them for approximately two hours, or until firm.
  10. Melt the white candy melts according to the package instructions.
  11. If the coating is too thick for dipping, add a small amount of vegetable oil and stir until smooth.
  12. Dip one end of a cake pop stick into the melted coating, then insert it into a cake ball.
  13. Allow the coating around the stick to set before dipping the entire cake pop. Refrigerating the cake pops for a few minutes can help secure them.
  14. Dip each cake pop completely into the melted white coating.
  15. Gently tap off the excess, then place the cake pop upright in a foam block or cake pop stand until the coating begins to set.

Decorating the Mummy Cake Pops

  1. Attach two candy eyes using small dots of melted black candy or chocolate.
  2. Allow the eyes to set.
  3. Transfer some melted white candy into a piping bag or resealable plastic bag.
  4. Cut a small opening at the tip.
  5. Pipe thin, overlapping lines around each cake pop to resemble mummy bandages.
  6. Place the cake pops upright and allow the coating to harden completely.

Decorating the Jack Skellington Cake Pops

  1. Use melted black candy or dark chocolate to draw two large oval eyes.
  2. Add two small lines beneath the eyes to create the nose.
  3. Draw a thin curved smile.
  4. Add several short vertical lines across the smile to recreate Jack Skellington’s stitched mouth.
  5. Allow the decorations to cool and harden completely before serving.

And that’s it! Your Mummy and Jack Skellington Monster Cake Pops are ready for Halloween.

Until the next recipe!
